Long time....

Dear friends,

It has been a long time since we have posted an update here.  Please forgive us for this long delay!!  I will just write a quick update on here and then hopefully get back to regularly updating on this weekly.

First, how have we been doing as a family?  This past month has been a busy one for us.  Grace is doing well, and talking a lot now!  She is getting so cute!  I write that with a worried face knowing that she controls me :).  Liam is doing well also.  We took him to the pediatrician last week and she said he is looking good.  He is also sleeping a lot better, so Julia and I are also looking better.. :).  Julia and I are doing well.  It was her birthday yesterday the 6th, and it was a joy pampering her all day.  I am reminded of just how much of a blessing she is in my life.  This past month has been a little challenging being that her mom has been in the hospital almost a month now.  We would really appreciate your prayers for her as she is still in the hospital.  Julia and are doing great!  We are learning how to balance the two kids and everything else.  Last week I cracks a couple ribs playing squash.  So I have been a little slower since then.

Ministry continues to go well, with challenges from time to time.  This past month the colleges have been on holiday so are weeks have been a bit different.  My time was spent meeting with members of the church and getting more one on one time with some of the students.  I am hoping to meet regularly with two young men.  I will meet again with them this friday.  I have attended the first couple meetings of campus crusade at poly as they are back in session.  It was a real joy to see many of the students again.  I will also be starting up the tennis ministry again once my ribs have healed.  I have had a few opportunities to lead the bible study at the church which has gone really well.  I will be leading again this sunday as well as the midweek bible study tomorrow.  Please be in prayer for the church.  The church is looking towards the end of the year where they will need to make some decisions one concerning the church.  Our hope is still to see the church grow and Glorify God.

Well, as I said I was wanting to keep this short, but we want to thank all those that are praying for us and supporting us.  May God bless you!

Update...

Hello friends,

Well it has been a while since I wrote on this.  First I wanted to just give a quick family update.  Liam is doing great!  He is growing and doing very well.  Julia is doing better also.  She is slowly recovering and we are looking forward to the 6 week check up to see how everything is.  Liam continues to be a bit of a night baby...meaning he keeps us up at night, but sleeps well during the day.  This past Sunday Grace turned two years old.  On saturday we were able to have a small birthday party for her which she loved.

She blew her candles out all by herself

Chocolate!!!

Opening presents!

Liam!!
This week has been a little busier with ministry.  On Monday I had the opportunity to preach at a morning assembly at Academia High School.  I spoke on the importance of the Word of God.  It went well and the principal gave me an invitation to come back any time.  They have assemblies every monday and the principal expressed the importance of starting the week with the Word.  Very cool opportunity!

I will be preaching at the church this coming sunday as Laban is traveling.  I will preach on chapter 14 of Acts.  I am looking forward to it.

This past sunday I was asked to baptize three new members of the church.  It was a joy to see these young men and woman make a public confession of Christ as there Savior and Lord!!

Please be praying for the students in the college campuses as many are taking exams and traveling home for the holiday.  We look forward to continuing ministry in the next semester.

this week....

Well hello again,

I wanted to give another quick update and share with you all some prayer requests we have.  Again I will try to keep it short and sweet.

This week has been good.  I taught again in the family bible hour at the church.  I am continuing to go through I corinthians.  I am reviewing what we went through about 2 years ago.  And this past week I went through I Cor. 7:10-24 on divorce.  The study went well, there was many questions about divorce and we will be continuing it this week.  I will finish the chapter and talk to singles this week.  Please pray for the discussion.

The tennis ministry continues to go well.  We are meeting on Fridays at around 3:00pm till about 6:00pm.  This past week we were able to connect with two new students which we will hopefully see come to the campus crusade group during the week.

Please be in prayer for us this week.  We have a c-section scheduled for next week thursday.  We are looking forward to the baby coming, but not looking forward to the recovery.  Please pray that all goes well and we will update the blog when the baby comes.

This past weekend we were able to attend a conference with Tedd Trip and Margy Tripp.  They were teaching on there book "Shepherding a Childs heart".  The conference went well!  It was such a joy to meet this couple and see there example.  I would highly recommend this book to all parents!  Warren W. Wiersbe said, "The heart of every problem is the problem in the heart".  The heart of the problem with children is the problem in there heart.  It is not behavior that is the issue but there heart.  I included a picture of us with the Tripps.

Thanks for checking this blog.  Please us know if you have any questions.

another quick update....

Hey friends,

Well we come to another week, and another quick update.  As I mentioned in an earlier update, I will be posting usually every Wednesday.  I will try to keep them short so to make them easier to read.

This past week has gone well.  I taught the family bible hour at the church this past sunday.  I am reviewing the sections of I corinthians that we covered about two years ago.  It has been going well.

Last week I was able to teach at the Prime Time for Campus Crusade.  I taught on temptations that are common amongst students.  I taught it at Poly-tech last week and will teach the same message at UNAM(university of Namibia) on the 22nd.  Please be praying for me as I teach.

The tennis ministry continues to go well.  Over the last few weeks I have been able to meet and get to know several students.  The aim of this is really to build relationships with the students so to invite them to other ministries on campus.  It's been great to sit down with several students and answer questions and give council where wanted.

Julia and Grace are doing well.  We are looking forward to a conference this week help by Eastside Baptist church where the speaker is Tedd Tripp.  He wrote one of the best books I have read on parenting called "Shepherding a Child's Heart".  This has truly been a book that has challenged Julia and I on our parenting concepts.  Please pray that God would use this conference in our families.  That God would be glorified through our first priority to our kids...parenting!

Julia is doing well with the pregnancy.  She is now just tired, and her feet are starting to swell, but she is doing good.  She is now 37 weeks along, so all is ready to go.  We have a c-section planned for the 24th, so 2 weeks to go.  Please pray that all goes smoothly from here.  Grace is doing well.  She is talking a lot more and is the cutest little girl I know....which adds to my challenge in parenting.:)

Lastly, we just want to thank all those that have supported us this month!  We praise the Lord for his amazing provision and Grace.  We pray that God would continue to show His grace upon all of you.

Update!

Dear friends,

Well it has been a very long time since we have written on here. Please forgive us for this. In a attempt to write on this more frequently I will try to post something new every Wednesday. I will just give a brief update now and will try to post some pictures a bit later. I realized that as I am sitting here in a cafe using free internet that I hadn't uploaded pictures from our camera. So please check back later or tomorrow to see some pictures.

  Brief Ministry Update:

I will keep this very brief…sort of bullet like. Since I have been back things have gotten pretty busy. I have had many opportunities to preach at three of the college campuses along side campus crusade for Christ. About a month ago I was able to preach on a sunday morning at a college outside windhoek. The students don't go anywhere so there is great opportunity there. I do hope to see more opportunities to go back and preach. The church is going well. As I was coming back here as member of the church(not a pastor) I have had the opportunity to serve in that capacity. I am basically taking every opportunity I can to serve and encourage the church. I have had many of the members come to me for council which is a big deal. I have led some bible studies and will preach in the next few weeks. I am taking it easy at the church so to show a good example to the members by being a member. I have also at UNAM(university of Namibia) started a tennis ministry where I am able to build relationships with some of the students. I have already been able to begin building some good relationships. All in all I am finding myself very busy with study, travel, and preaching and teaching. Julia is doing better now. We are expecting our second born here next month, so we would appreciate your prayers for that.

During the Easter weekend we held a Easter Conference at Monte Christo. It was attended by many people from churches all over the country who were a part of the EBM(evangelical Baptist Mission). Also, last week I was able to attend a conference called "the pastors book set". Those that attended received 10 very useful books. The goal was to help equip pastors and ministry workers with solid resources to help in ministry. I will add a picture of the books later. Please pray for this ministry. Books are very expensive here and most are not able to afford them. This ministry allows the equipping of many pastors around the country. More later....
